Eden became a Member of Parliament from the Conservative Party in 1923.  He served three times as Foreign Secretary. He was one of the key figures in the Churchill war cabinet.  He was considered Churchill's heir apparent.  In 1955, he succeeded Churchill as Prime Minister.  Eden led the British government in the ill-fated Suez Crisis.  After the failure of Britains' actions there, he resigned in 1957.
